OUR TEAM – DENTISTS 

DR. DEAN STELMASCHUK – Dentist BSc DDS 

Quality dentistry is about more than just having the latest equipment. Dr. Stelmaschuk keeps up with the latest techniques devoting time to continuously upgrading his education and knowledge in the dental field.

Dr. Stelmaschuk completed his education and received his Dental Degree at the University of Alberta. While there he received special recognition for his oral surgery techniques.

After settling in Victoria in 1983, he set up practice in the James Bay area in 1988 as a general dentist. In his clinic he offers all basic restorative and preventive dentistry procedures. Of special interest to Dr. Stelmaschuk is the area of Dental Implants, he has performed thousands of cases since completing this training in 1989.

Education and preventive techniques are vitally important to him. He regularly attends continued education courses and study groups to ensure he and his office are working with the latest equipment, techniques and materials. Dr. Dean Stelmaschuk takes pride in his friendly, efficient, and comfortable office.

His relaxed manner, calm assured style, steady hand and gentle technique, positive attitude and great sense of humour all contribute towards making the experience of going to the dentist easier.

During his downtime Dr. Stelmaschuk loves riding his two motorcycles, surfing, playing and watching basketball, snowboarding and skiing. A fitness enthusiast, he claims to actually 'like' running!

DR ATHAR BUTT - Dentist BSc DDS

Also joining our team is Dr. Athar Butt. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario Dental Program, he also has a degree in Biochemistry from McMaster University. He joined the Canadian Forces in 2002 and was posted in Edmonton.

Dr. Butt is now able to bring his skills in general dentistry and dental surgery to Radius Dental.

His kind and patient manner aid him well with patients of all ages, he enjoys his profession - and it shows!

With his addition to our team, our office is now able to offer late appointments, open until 9 p.m. Thursday for your convenience.

Athar and his family moved to Victoria from Edmonton last July (no doubt hoping to escape the snowy Alberta winters!). He enjoys the coastal lifestyle with his wife and three young sons, and in his spare time plays basketball, tennis, and tries not to lose too many golf balls!

DR DAVID JOHNSON - Dentist BSc DMD 

Dr. Johnson is now joining our team. A graduate of the UBC Dental School, we are pleased that he will be bringing his skills to our clinic.

David is a local islander, and returned to his home city of Victoria after completing his dental degree. His strong skill in general and surgical dental techniques make him a welcome addition to Radius Dental, and he welcomes new patients.

Dr. Johnson loves travelling for personal and humanitarian purposes and has recently returned from a stay in Cambodia. A great photo presentation of his trip is on display in the office, and he is thrilled with discovering how rewarding this type of project can be.

When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Johnson is also a writer, one of his recent projects is a screenplay. Also a health and fitness enthusiast, he enjoys many sports, but is happiest when trying to sink a shot from the 3 point line playing basketball.

DR JEROME BERGERMAN - Dentist BA DMD

We are very exciting that Dr. Bergerman is now part of our dental team, joining us as an dental locum. He brings years of expertise to the practice. A seasoned professional, he is well qualified in all aspects of general dentistry and is known for both the quality of work he does and the great relationship he develops with his patients. Kind and caring, he provides quality dental care with a compassionate manner.

Dr. Bergerman is recently back from travels in Canada's far north and he is excited to be back in Victoria and able to offer his services to the James Bay community.
